Purpose & Objectives
The Greater Houston Coin Club is organized exclusively for educational purposes, and in the furtherance of this purpose, to promote the study of numismatics through educational and scientific means. It's objectives are: to advance numismatic knowledge through educational, historical, and scientific means; to assist in bringing together persons interested in numismatics; to promote greater popular interest in numismatics; to aid it's members through the study, acquisition, and exhibition of numismatic material; and to assist or encourage other worthy numismatic causes.
Visitors are welcome at the GHCC's monthly meeting. If you are interested in what we do, or would like to try us out, or if you are from out of town and find you will be in Houston on the Third Thursday of the Month, then Please plan on joining us for the evening.
The Greater Houston Coin Club meets at 7:00 p.m. every third (3rd) Thursday of each month. It's meeting place is in the activities room of the Fair Haven United Methodist Church, 1330 Gessner Rd., Houston, TX., 77055
The monthly meetings begin with refreshments, followed by a brief business meeting, a "Show and Tell" session where members show and describe new or unique additions to their collections and explain the significance of them, and an educational presentation by a member or guest speaker. Following the meeting there is normally an informal auction of varied numismatic items.
The Fair Haven United Methodist Church is located 6/10 of a mile north of I-10 West at 1330 Gessner Rd. This is one exit East of the Beltway 8 and I-10 intersection. For members and guests coming from the North and South, the Beltway 8 is the most convenient route. Take the eastbound exit from the Beltway to I-10 where there is a convenient right turn to Gessner Rd. at the end of the exit ramp and just before entering I-10.
The GHCC's newsletter is called "The Double Shift" (for the "double struck" Lincoln one cent piece). The delightful insights of the numismatists of The Greater Houston Coin Club are presented for the current members of the club, and other coin club affiliates on an exchange basis around the country. All current club members in good standing will receive The Double Shift. If you would like a free copy of "The Double Shift", please contact us at the above listed address.
The GHCC supports, both
financially and through volunteer assistance, the following numismatic

As it's major fund raising event,
the GHCC sponsors a large regional numismatic show wherein dealers from all over
the USA, and from foreign countries gather to display, sell and buy domestic,
foreign and ancient coins, paper money, tokens, medals, jewelry, and numismatic
supplies and literature. While the show is commercial in nature, it
retains it's focus on family and youth education with seminars, exhibits,
treasure hunts, youth auctions, and Scout merit badge qualification
sessions.
